[a pause. and she kind of just - stops moving, stops doing what she's doing, because she has to look away so he doesn't see the heat behind her eyes threatening to spill over.]

[ yeah, he does. it's why he doesn't go any further with the hug, simply holding her and letting her rest in his arms until she tells him to stop. ]

No. I just wanted her to stay away from me.

she just. kind of slumps, absolutely exhausted. kind of like when all of your adrenaline finally cuts out, when your body decides nope, it's time to pass out, it's time to stop going. she doesn't actually pass out, but. her knees do give out just a bit.

thank god you're okay - it makes her feel like she doesn't have to let the rattlesnake noise happen, defensive and on edge.]

[ as soon as she falters, ichiban is ready to catch her and keep her steady. his hand is at the small of her back to lift and carry her over to one of the cots so she doesn't need to worry about holding herself up for the moment. ]

[she's fine with that! she just. flops down on the cot, with a sigh.]
