[ find ichiban today in the mess hall, in the lull between breakfast and lunch hours. he's picking through the snacks with disinterest when he spots gregor, raising a hand in greeting. ]

Hey, Greg-san. You get a chance to talk with any of the Senior Crew while they were hangin' around the other day?

[verminous]

Greg-san...? Ah, just Gregor's fine.

[at least he isn't being bowed to this time, he will take it.]

I did, yeah. There's sure a lot of them, considering there's nobody else.

[there's not one captain here overseeing them??]

[ he nods, but also, "definitely greg-san." manages to escape the confines of his brain. rip. ]

Yeah, that weirded me out a little too... it almost sounded to me like the ship itself is the one actually in charge.

Eight people's too many to have at the highest level. If they ever all have to agree on something and end up split... they're gonna have problems.

[ back at it again at titan's call... ichiban is sitting at the bar counter, nursing a glass of whiskey as nancy rests in a nearby wineglass filled with water. the general mood is a little "oof." happy sunday... ]

[YEAH OOF IS RIGHT... gregor's here to grab a beer, sliding onto a barstool, his roach currently perching on his head.]

I'm startin' to think this thing needs to be stripped down to the frame and rebuilt.

[frotag]

Preferably without us on it. [ he takes a drink and then lifts his glass. ] Yo.

[ similarly, nancy chirps at roach friend and waves a claw. ]

[ titan's call...... 3! it's almost like deja vu, as ichiban can be found in the same seat at the bar with the same drink on the counter. ]

How'd I know we'd both end up here again? It's almost like fate, man.

[ he's joking, yeah, but even though he's drinking, the atmosphere is very sobering. ]

Definitely fate.

[raising his beer to him...

it's barely touched. he's busy smoking.]

Guess it's the same again this time, yeah?

Really not a fan of this being a regular weekly thing, that's for sure.

[ he peeks over at gregor, fingers tapping on the side of his glass. ]

[ and, true to his word, ichiban can be found at titan's call with two glasses of alcohol already on the counter. he has yet to start drinking, though, merely swirling his cup around to let the ice clink around while he waits. ]

Hey, pal.

[he shows up just after ichiban does, still looking exhausted, but-- better, at least. yuri is okay. she's been healed; she's alive. he's better than he'd been earlier, slashing uselessly at the barrier between them.

gregor picks up one of the glasses and quickly downs a quarter of it.]

[ ichiban can't help but let out a humorless laugh when gregor just knocks the drink back, because same my dude. with that, he lifts his glass and drinks about the same before letting out a "whew" and leaning back. ]

Visited Yuri-chan in the medbay earlier... I'm glad she's doin' okay.

w4 tuesday (dropoff)

[left outside ichiban's door is a little package containing the following:

-a DQ headscratcher
-and a plush slime with a tiny little sword attached. it's a hero slime.

there's also a note:]

Hey, pal. Rodya dragged me out to see the mall, we found these & thought of you.

Now that I think about it, does a hero slime have to defeat other slimes to level up...? I wasn't really considering it when I found the little guy... ah, forget about that part, why'd I write that down anyway

Point is, we appreciate you, you know.

[ ichiban is not sitting at the counter of titan's call today. instead, he's lying down on the floor of the bar, staring at the ceiling.

contrary to what he said earlier, it does not look like he has washed up or gotten healed. ]

[mood, buddy.

gregor walks over to the bar, knocks a short little pattern on it, and is delivered a glass of some sort of dark, strong beer, which he brings with him as he goes to sit by ichiban.]

I don't even wanna drink tonight, man.

[ BACK AT IT AGAIN AT TITAN'S CALL!!! ichiban is in a great mood as he rolls on up to the bar counter and starts pouring for both him and gregor. as soon as the mugs are topped up, he raises his glass and enthusiastically cries, ]

[clinks their glasses together with equal enthusiasm, as his bug excitedly wiggles its antennae from the bartop.]

Ahh, I missed this, bud-- there was no good booze down there.

[ he laughs heartily, though, giving gregor a shoulder thump (HE'S AWARE OF HIMSELF THIS TIME THOUGH IT'S NOT LIKE HE'S TRYING TO KNOCK HIS ARM OFF). ]
